A stop along the Florida Birding Trail, Matheson Hammock Park is comprised of grassy fields and tall hardwood hammocks that host migratory songbirds and vagrants from the tropics. An old palm plantation hosts different species of exotic parrots like Red-masked Parakeets and Hill Mynahs and native mangroves and coastal beaches also see action from passing shorebirds and waders. Fall migration is a time of peak species diversity at this local park and one that will likely offers us a bouquet of warblers and other songbirds. Led by our own Phoebe, Eliana Ardila Ardila from Birding By Bus, this walk is one you will not want to miss.
